When families are stretched thin, students can’t focus on learning. At New Gains Academy—our 501(c)(3) nonprofit microschool—we turn concern into action: we offer rent assistance to keep struggling households housed and students in class, and each November we share what groceries we can with neighbors who need a little extra. Loving our families means more than lessons; it means making sure they’re okay.
